LaVerna Preserve in Bristol

Shore line along LaVerna Preserve looking south along Muscongus Bay.

Deb, Amanda and I hike the LaVerna Preserve today. It’s Deb’s birthday, she had been down this trail once before and wanted to do it again. Beautiful rugged coastline at the end of an easy walk of 1.5 miles.

The trail starts across the road from the parking lot on Route 32 and meanders through the woods, across a stream and down to the shore. This being early April, the trail had many muddy sections. Deb was here last summer with another group and called it being dry then.

The trail forks at two points for longer loops. Regardless of which way you go, when you break out of the trees to the shore, you will find yourself on a bluff with a pristine view of Muscongus Bay and the Atlantic Ocean.

It’s fun to climb along and among the rocky coast. Or just sit, listen to the crashing surf and feel the ocean breeze on your face.

With the hike in, some time exploring the shore and the hike out, we spent almost 3 hours on the Preserve. The widest loop is almost 3 miles.
